About the Firm The Shepherd Elder Law Group was founded to provide compassionate legal counsel to the elderly, individuals with disabilities and their families. We provide counsel in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, Medicaid Planning, Guardianship, Special Needs Trusts, Long-Term Care and Veterans benefits. Job Summary As a result of growth, we are seeking a highly organized Estate Planning Paralegal to support our clients, lawyers and practice. Our ideal candidate will be more about cultural fit than experience and more about passion around our work than simply finding another job. Every firm operates a little differently, and we're more than willing to entertain training someone with true passion and aptitude for our work than a more experienced individual. We would at least like to see a Paralegal Certificate or studies however. Responsibilities of the Position Organizing and creating wills, estate planning, tax and probate documents Preparing drafts and finalizing legal documents at lawyer direction Direct, effective communication with clients of the firm Managing individual client files Keeping contemporaneous time for billing purposes Management of electronic files in our document management system And other duties as assigned that contribute to the overall success of our practice Placement Criteria Our ideal candidate will have some experience in a similar role, and a Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution is preferred but not required. They will have a high level of organizational skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office and demonstrate a high level of problem solving and customer service skills. It goes without saying that compassionate and effective communication skills are a must. Our ideal candidate will also exercise a high degree of emotional intelligence and anticipatory skills, recognizing what needs to be done before being asked.
