Position Description General Description. Hudson Institute seeks a podcasting intern to support a new Hudson Institute podcast on topics of national security, foreign and domestic policy, and international relations. Responsibilities include participating in editorial meetings, listening in on recordings, writing episode ledes, recommending episode chapters and clips, and generating transcripts. Qualified applicants will have a demonstrated interest in politics and policy and need to be technologically savvy. Applicants in the Washington, DC metro area are preferred, but work will mainly be done remotely. This is a freelance position paid hourly up to 15 hours per week. About Hudson Institute. Hudson Institute is a research-focused public policy think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C, dedicated to promoting American leadership for a secure, free, and prosperous future. For more than half a century, Hudson Institute has been challenging conventional thinking by developing new ideas and practical solutions to shape critical foreign and domestic policy decisions. Essential Position Responsibilities. Under the supervision of the podcast team, the podcasting intern: Participates in biweekly editorial and production meetings to discuss execution of the podcast. Listens in on recordings-mainly virtually with occasional live recordings at Hudson's office in Washington, DC. Writes episode ledes, recommends chapters and clips, and develops hashtags with eye for YouTube and podcast platform SEO. Generates episode transcripts, including formatting and proofreading the transcripts and ensuring transcripts are publish ready. Performance Requirements. Successful performance in this position involves consistent, high-level fulfillment of each and every duty described above. Additional requirements and/or qualifications for the position include : Demonstrated interest in politics and policy. Excellent oral, written, and project management skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Creative and entrepreneurial mindset. Technologically savvy, capable of supporting podcast recordings via Zoom and managing postings within social media and podcasting platforms. Adobe InDesign experience a plus. Audio/video editing experience is not required but an interest in learning it is appreciated. Familiarity with or willingness to learn YouTube SEO.
