Accent Controls, Inc. (ACI) is seeking a full-time Laborer to support field and sustainment level maintenance at Fort Gordon Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), located in Fort Gordon, Georgia. The non-exempt job classification is covered under The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) and the contract's collective bargaining agreement (CBA) . Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits that are set by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division's WDs 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f) , unless otherwise modified by a CBA between labor and management. Job Summary The Laborer performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. The following tasks are typical of this occupation: The Laborer loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck; stacks materials for storage or binning, collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations, The Laborer levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake, shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches, cuts tree and brush; operates power lawnmowers, moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliance, moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment, spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways, and picks up leaves and trash. Essential Functions: Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances; moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks; stacks materials for storage or binning; collects refuse and salvageable materials. Digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations; levels ground using picks, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; cuts tree and brush; operates power lawnmowers. Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances; moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment. Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways; picks up leaves and trash. Transports work tools and repair parts, supplies, equipment, furniture and other items in pick up and cargo trucks of up to 5-ton capacity. Correctly operates steam cleaning equipment, materials handling equipment and other mission required equipment after proper instructions. Marginal Functions: Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures. Working Conditions Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. May work in mud, sand and dirt. Could work in tight quarters, not to include confined spaces Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory in certain areas. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing Physical and Mental Demands Including, but not limited to, standing, squatting, lifting (up to 50 pounds or more); carrying, walking; pushing and pulling Including, but not limited to, problem-solving, decision-making, data interpretation, organization; reading and writing Qualifications Must be able to perform physically demanding work. Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a military driver's license up to and including five-ton capacity if required by specific assignment. Specific positions require individual to pass an annual physical examination. Specific positions may require the individual to possess or obtain a security clearance and/or pass ability to pass a background investigation to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card. Education High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) ACI maintains a drug-free workplace and performs pre-employment and random substance abuse testing and background verification checks.
