Jack Flash is seeking a Category Manager to execute its gift and novelty strategy across all store locations. ABOUT JACK FLASH Jack Flash is a family-owned retailer in Illinois and Missouri that was founded in 1986 with just one location. Jack Flash currently operates 18 locations that include convenience stores, truck stops, liquor stores, and car washes. At Jack Flash, we focus on creativity and innovation. ROLE SUMMARY The Category Manager of the Gift and Novelty Department is responsible for the buying, forecasting, merchandising, and sales analysis of all products within the gift category. This position also assists with the inventory management of gift items and works closely with the warehouse team to manage logistics. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Create seasonal floor sets for gift merchandise and communicate/demonstrate desired merchandising expectations to in-store personnel Create and communicate product signage strategies to stores Analyze sales and/or inventory reports to establish sales and profit goals based on key performance metrics Design strategies to optimize product movement and inventory turns while being mindful of space constraints in stores Maintain and/or develop relationships with key gift and novelty vendors Place merchandise orders with vendors in a timely manner Attend semi-annual trade shows to purchase product, schedule deliveries, and gain new retail insights Manage logistics including shipping, invoicing, and distribution of product to retail locations Work with warehouse personnel to organize warehouse space in order to maximize efficiency Assist in-store personnel with inventory management by communicating/executing procedures for damages, markdowns, register scanning, and conducting itemized inventories Develop and maintain loss prevention strategies in the warehouse and all retail store locations QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of retail merchandising experience OR an Associate's Degree from an accredited education institution in a business related field Strong written and oral communication skills Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage time effectively Self-motivated and entrepreneurial attitude Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to inventory management and product invoicing Ability to read and interpret sales reports, inventory ordering sheets, and other critical documents Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours per day Job Posted by ApplicantPro
