Impressionist forest landscape with dappled sunlight and distant water by Francis Humphry W. Woolrych (1868-1941), listed Missouri/Australia/France artist, oil on canvas, 14" by 11 3/4", signed lower left, carved 22K gilded reproduction frame, 21 1/2" by 19 1/2". Artist was born in Sydney, Australia and studied at the Royal Academy of Berlin and Ecole Colarossi and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris with Raphael Collin and Gustave Courtois. He was a member of the American Federation of Arts, St. Louis Artists' Guild, and St. Louis Brush and Pencil Society. Condition very good, clean, two old reinforcing patches verso without apparent restoration to face, original stretcher bars made from architectural molding, frame with minor touchup to gilding.
