The PS Audio Lambda is a dedicated CD transport. It utilizes the highly regarded Philips CDM-9 Pro mechanism - a mechanism which features a rigid silver alloy metal chassis and vibration-free brushless DC Hall effect motor. It makes use of a high definition glass optical path, in which a diffraction grating is utilized as a beam splitter; with attendantly lower information loss as a result. Digital servo correction and reduced moving mass of the pickup assembly contribute to enhanced playability; and a special vibration resistant elastomeric suspension significantly improves performance in the mechanical domain. Three separate low flux transformers and thirteen individual stages of regulation are utilized. All critical circuits receive exceedingly clean supply voltage; and they are isolated from one another to an extent rarely seen in CD playback.
