Description:
Lily is a 19 year old Kentucky Mountain/Rocky Mountain mare. She is beginner safe and a comfortable ride due to being gaited. She would be perfect for someone with maybe not so much riding experience who wanted an ocassional trail ride when she's healthy. She has some special needs which cause health issues where I can't count on her consistently for my farm's requirements. She is insulin resistant so she has dietary restrictions and cannot be on pasture and she also has heaves/allergies so she can't be kept inside a barn, and must be fed quality hay preferably wetted and or in a net. We have fed her silage and chaffhaye with good results. She is an EASY keeper. Her feet must be kept well trimmed (short toes and heels) since she has a history of founder due to her metabolic issues. When she is healthy she is a fantastic horse, great with kids, super friendly and easy to catch. She stays in the fence, loads in the trailer, ties well, tacks up great, neck reins, goes where you point her etc etc. I used her in my lesson and trail riding program for the past two years, and If it weren't for her health issues there would be no thought of her even leaving the farm.
