Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design, material, or process while working as a "hands-on" engineer.The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering and experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement. What you'll do: Maintain and modify plant equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.Plan, justify, and lead major equipment purchases and installations.Plan and design experiments and conduct data analysis in support of product lines.Design and implement test methods and equipment to support product development. What you'll bring: A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.Project management experience including defining, detailing, documenting, and driving completion of projects.Excellent in 2D CAD applications - AutoCAD Inventor and 3D CAD applications is a plus.Excellent problem solving and creativity skill set.Strong teamwork skills with the ability to achieve consensus, provide leadership, and create accountability.Excellent communication, presentation skills, and analytical skills.Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Windows applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Within 3 months, you'll: Complete your Atkore immersion program.Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.Gain an understanding of your team.Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns. Within 6 months, you'll: Be responsible for research & engineering documentation.Facilitate & participate in concept brainstorming & strategy sessions.Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting & diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems.Lead cross-functional teams and manage improvement projects. Within 12 months, you'll: Influence and propel multi-functional team members to achieve stretch goals.Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies.Research future concepts within market including the monitoring of technology trends.Solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations.
