SPECIAL SERVICE FOR GROUPS, INC Job Announcement_____________________________________________________________________________________Title: Harm Reduction Trainer Division: HOPICSFLSA: Non-Exempt/Full-time Supervisor: Program ManagerPay Range or Rate: $24.50 - $27.50 per hour Revised: 08.22.2023_____________________________________________________________________________________SummaryUnder the direction of the Harm Reduction Program Manager, the Harm Reduction Trainer will collaborate across Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS) a division of Special Service for Groups (SSG) to support the planning, implementation, and delivery of comprehensive harm reduction and trauma informed care best practices trainings. Essential Functions:• To assist in the creation and implementation of comprehensive trainings for all HOPICS staff in Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, and other modalities as assigned.• To provide staff and participants with current, accurate harm reduction information. • Provide quality ongoing training and develop new trainings and education topics for our staff, participants and partner agencies. • To provide group education and participation in community events and outreach activities. • To support the mission of SSG/HOPICS by creating culturally and linguistically appropriate curricula, planning programs, delivering education, and evaluating effectiveness. • Gathers and analyzes information to determine learning needs.• Individually and/or with a team, plans, creates, and develops harm reduction education topic outlines and curriculums, incorporating various learning techniques and formats (i.e., group discussion, lectures, role-play, etc.). • Reviews and assists in determining the linguistic and cultural appropriateness of materials, teaching aids, activities, methods, strategies, programs, etc. • Review the efficacy of materials and programs and provide positive, action-oriented feedback. • Assists with the translation and/or revisions of translated materials as appropriate.• Evaluates training programs and materials as well as trainee performance.• Facilitates and delivers internal learning solutions and develops in-house training programs as needed.• Facilitates learning solutions, preparing plans according to adult learning theory and providing a high-impact, interactive environment• Identifies learning needs within assigned business units. Develops professional, collaborative relationships with business unit leaders• Develops and implements learning curriculum that is consistent with current trends and best practices.• Utilizes internal and external resources as necessary to achieve goals• Collaborates with leadership team to assess, design, develop and maintain training solutions and components• Tracks and analyzes learning curriculum effectiveness through various evaluation techniques, including the evaluation of individual performances• Provides reporting to management and senior leadership as requested• Assists in educating employees on the use of the Relias Learning Platform• In collaboration with supervisor, manages project resources (people and material) to ensure deliverables are completed in scope and on schedule• Maintains current industry knowledge; stays abreast of potential training topics• Assumes responsibility for ongoing development, researching training industry standards and best practices and embracing new technologies• Coordinate logistics of training setting, whether in-person or virtual training, attendance tracking, passwords, materials and supplies• Designs and/or delivers additional content, as assigned, to support any training needs identified for the agency• Creativity in developing programs and methods for engaging an audience toward the success of a goal.• Proactively design and implement calendar for training.• Oversee administration of training, including class registration and follow-ups.• Organizing, including the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.• Develop and maintain a group of effective training consultants• Provide logistical and technical support for staff and participants.• Empathy, using skills that allow the trainer to determine what is most important to their target audience, and then working to deliver on an organizational promise.• Engaging, having a natural like of people, a knack for leading, and soft skills that help engage others in goals• Interested in learning new things• Flexible, dynamic, and engaging, with strong interpersonal skills• A team player with the ability to forge new partnerships that bridge people and organizations• Able to prioritize under deadline pressure• Responsive to requests from supervisor, employees, or management• Expertise in delivering outcomes, achieving goals, and solving problems• Strong communicators with skills in writing and public speaking• Excellent with time and task management skills• Able to work independently and in a collaborative setting• Able to see the big picture as well as the small detailsSecondary Functions• Perform other duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor and or Division Director.Supervisory Responsibilities Will provide no supervision in this role.Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required• Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent work experience• 1-2 years of experience delivering, presenting harm reduction, social injustice, restorative justice or culturally responsive training/education, preferably in a social service setting.• Bilingual in English/Spanish may be required depending on assignment.• Meet organizational driver requirements.• 1-2 years of practical business experience with developing and delivering training solutions• Knowledge and experience in contemporary adult learning• Intermediate skill level MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint• Aptitude and desire to learn new tools and techniques quickly• Demonstrated success in developing learning curriculum• Strong motivational and interpersonal skills• Strong presentation and classroom management skills• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment• Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally with collaborative entities; neat and professional appearance; attention to detail and punctuality required; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet is desired.• Professional experience working within a multi-integrated team.• If in recovery, a minimum of three (3) years of being drug and alcohol free is required.• Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Check.• Maintain access to reliable transportation that is supported with valid Driver's License and valid insurance.• CPR, Fingerprinting and First Aid Certification within the first thirty-days (60) of employment (along with HIV/AIDS training) in the first 3 months of employment.• TB test required annually. • Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles• Ability to work with staff, participants and partner agencies from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally. Valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance is required.Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)May be exposed to highly aggressive staff, participants: must communicate with stakeholders. Local automobile travel is required. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
