1986 Mercury Cougar GS original survivor with only 21,263 original milesThe car still has its original window sticker, owners manual and the Ford factory cassette tape.This 5.0 has been garage kept all of its life and it shows. The owner did not modify the all stock Cougar. The only items that have been replaced on the car were maintenance items like fluids, spark plugs and serpentine belt and tires.This Cougar is heavily loaded with so many factory options. The car still wears all of its original Sand Beige metallic paint with only 1 small blend on passenger fender which matches perfectly. The original paint quality is excellent from front to back. The Sand beige Luxury vinyl half roof is mint condition and looks like new. The Sand beige interior is in perfect condition, with so few miles and garage storage this is why it is still in excellent condition. The pictures donât lie it is hard to find this nice of an interior and exterior on a driven car. Power Train Drive Train:The engine is all original with only 21,263 miles and has never been apart. Except for a tune up with plugs, the rest is FOMOCO original. The engine is extremely clean and you can see factory paint marks all over. This cougar was equipped with the 302 5.0 EFI which is similar to the Mustang GT in 1986.The factory exhaust system is still the original. There are no major issues with corrosion except for the typical light surface rust accumulated over the past 32 years. There are no odd noises or knocking sounds whatsoever when driving the car. This engine runs smooth. The engine runs cool as the original radiator is in great shape. The temp gauge runs about the middle.The car can cruise at high speeds with no problems. The 4 speed automatic transmission shifts strong. The rear differential works fineSuspension:The car take the bumps smooth. The power steering pump does not have the typical whine when turning the wheel at parking lot speeds. Again, I attribute this to the vehicles low mileage. There is no shimmy while driving. The overall suspension is in great condition as it has less than 22,000 miles.The rear spare has never hit the ground nor removed for any use. The factory jack and lug wrench are included.Brakes:The brakes were recently inspected and are in very good condition. The front and rear brake linings have about 2/3 of life as well as the rotors. The brake linings are original to the car. The relatively low mileage of the car proves that.Body / Chassis:The body is in good overall shape with no rust present the benefit of being never driven in winter and garage kept since new.. There is NO history of any accident. The body is absolutely straight with no dings.The doors, hood and trunk line up perfectly and close properly. All date codes are present on the major body parts.The chassis is very clean with no rust present except for some bare metal items that have light surface rust. The pictures show there are no jacking marks or impacts to the chassis. The floors are in great original untouched condition.Exterior:The original paint quality I would rate at a solid 8-9. There are only about 5 super small chips on the car so small even close up pictures cant detect them. The paint is just unbelievable as you can see in the detailed pictures.The original Ford Carlite tinted glass is in great shape.Interior:It is in perfect original condition. The front seats are in excellent shape with no wear. The rear seats are also in mint condition as are the seat belts. The dash pad is in great shape with no cracks and it is still pliable. The door panels are perfect even the drivers map pocket is near perfect and not sagging from excess use. The carpet is in excellent condition as well.The center console is completely intact with no cracks present and is fully functional, all the indicator lights work and function properly. The cigarette lighter works, but was never used as it is a non smokerâs car. The head liner is perfect with no sags.The HVAC system works great, the AC blows cold as most R12 systems do from that era. The heaters blows hot when set to high. All 3 fan speeds work.Electrical:The electronics are in excellent condition and everything works as it should. The wiring is original and all the wiring is intact. The original radio works properly for a 80âs vintage Premium Factory AM / FM radio cassette player. The speakers in the dash and the rear package tray sound fine for their vintage. The LCD display works fine. The premium sound system was the best available from Ford at that time. Also the power antenna functions 100% as it should which is rare.The electronic gauge cluster is in excellent condition. The gauges work perfectly and all indicator lights illuminate properly.The head light high and low beams work. All turn signals, running and tail lights work and the turn single cancel works. The interval wipers work as well. All the switches work properly.
