1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Vista Cruiser Wagon

Price:
$7,990
Summary:
Used 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, 140,000 miles
Location:
Tucson, AZ
Description:

This Vista Cruiser has been an Arizona car since new, and is completely dry and rust-free. The under carriage, rockers, floors, and body mounts are all extremely solid. I purchased this car in 2017, and the previous owner had the car since 1982. It has always been stored inside, and the interior and exterior are in excellent condition. The car currently shows just over 140,000 miles, and the engine was rebuilt at 100,000. I do not have documentation on the build, but I have run a compression test and the engine is quite sound (+/- 150 PSI on all cylinders). There is an aftermarket temperature gauge, and the car runs cool, even during our 105 degree summers. This is an exceptionally loaded wagon. It has the "ultra high compression" Jetfire 330, which came equipped with a four barrel carb and dual exhaust. It has power steering, brakes (drum all around), and power windows. The rear window is power as well, and works with the original dash switch, or by using the key on the tailgate. I purchased the car in running condition, and performed an extensive amount of work to make it a reliable and attractive car. New radiator, new Brake Booster, New Master Cylinder, New Fuel Pump (it has both mechanical and an auxiliary electric pump), Completely remanufactured factory carburetor, built to original specs. New valve cover seals, New intake manifold seals, New Pertronix Electronic Ignition, All new hoses, belts, and thermostat, New transmission modulator, New plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Removed and flushed the fuel tank- inside is clean and rust-free. Serviced and lubricated all power windows. Cleaned and painted intake manifold and valve covers in the original Oldsmobile gold, using Bill Hirsh engine paint. An extra can is included. I also had the factory air conditioning system completely rebuilt by a local specialist, at a cost of $1158. The correct Frigidaire compressor was rebuilt in house, which is much more reliable than the models sold at parts stores. All of the AC vacuum lines were replaced and color coded, as well as the ductwork behind the dash. He even replaced the blower with a more powerful AC Delco unit. All AC hoses were rebuilt, along with every seal. It has been converted to R-134A, and is ice cold. The heater works well, and the core does not leak. The interior is in excellent condition, and I recently had the front and back seats rebuilt and recovered with the original style vinyl. I also replaced the carpet, and recovered the arm rests. The door panels are original and in excellent condition. The padded dash is original and perfect, with no cracks or sun fading. The original AM-FM radio plays very well, and the front seat features extremely rare factory head rests. This is a two seat model, so there is a large trunk under the rear compartment in lieu of a seat. The trunk floor, floors, and spare tire well are all rust-free. The exterior was repainted in the original color 20 years ago, and still shows extremely well. They used a base/clear system, and it shows no sun fading. I buffed, polished, and waxed the finish, and was very impressed with the results. The paint is not perfect, but is extremely presentable. I even took apart the roof rack to polish underneath, and replaced the seals. The woodgrain is original, with the exception of the section behind the left rear wheel. The brakes work well, and I have taken the drums off to check the components. All of the shoes have plenty of life, the wheel cylinders are not leaking, and the wheel bearings have been re-packed. I purchased a factory service manual, and will include it in the sale. I have receipts for all repairs performed during my ownership, and will provide them to the buyer. Known Problems: The 14 inch whitewalls have good tread, but they are over ten years old and should be replaced soon. They do not have flat spots, and I have driven the car at 75 MPH with no problems. There is a very small spot of rust bubbling at the bottom of the side window. Please see the picture. The driver's window control switch will need service. It no longer raises the passenger window, but the window works fine from the passenger side. The passenger window is also a bit noisy. Window washer is untested, and probably doesn't work. One of the Vista windows has a minor spot of delamination. It shows as a small line on the front window, and it not very noticeable. The headliner is original, and has several small tears in it. It is presentable, but could use replacement. The cargo compartment has numerous scratches, and the vinyl over the spare tire has a few small tears, marks, and imperfections. Door weatherstrip is starting to age.
