Colorado Springs, CO
Description:

1975 BMW 2002 with a full Zender widebody kitEngine / transmission:The 2.0 engine runs fine, 3 pumps of the throttle and hit the key. Idles fine with a little bit of a lope. Weber carb works fine. Electronic ignition works fine.No tapping, no smoke, no weird noises. The car does not smoke at start up or on long decel (valve seals are fine). The car has recent exhaust from the header back. The muffler still has the stickers on it. There is a binder of receipts that come with the car and in the binder there is a paper that says "catalytic converter removed during engine rebuild", but of all the receipts, there are no receipts for a rebuild. There are receipts for: New clutch GuiboNew DriveshaftNew waterpump New belt, cap, plugsNew fuel sending unitNew tie rod ends Again, the engine, 4-speed transmission, clutch, rear diff all work as they should, the car seems to be slightly out of time (wants to run backwards sometimes at hot shut off), but runs well otherwise. Body: The car has an original Zender body kit installed. It is said to have been installed in 1993 according to paperwork attached. The front air dam still has the "Zender - made in Germany" sticker under the fiberglass. The rear spoiler is also a genuine Zender part. I say these are "Original" because we've seen some pretty terrible aftermarket copies made to look like Zender or E30 M3 parts, but the fit and finish is horrible on some we've seen. The body and paint are NOT perfect... Again, the car was painted in 1993. The Hella fog lights work fine and are hooked up as high beams. It has what appears to be brand new side mirrors, and new front turn signals. The rear bumper is an early shorty and was painted. It's not perfect, but looks the part.YES, it's VERY presentable, the paint shines, it turns heads just driving down the road, but this is not a show car. I highly encourage interested parties to come see the car in person. Rust: The car is EXTREMLY solid. It was a northern VA / DC area car its whole life. Rockers are in great shape, the frame rails are beautiful. Rear shock towers are solid, front shock towers / wings / nose are all solid. The only places I see any rust is the bottom of the pedal box (which works fine) and the driver's floor has a few small "spots" - due to a leaking window that was out of adjustment. The floor is SOLID, we didn't do any repairs as to show that it is NOT rusted out, we did repair the window that was out of adjustment. The rear spare tire well is beautiful as is all the other flooring as well. Also, the fuel tank must have a pin hole, it sat in my garage for 2 months with no leaks at all, I drove it for these pictures and it dripped a few times.I put it back in the garage and no leaks again. Interior: The interior has a lot of great appointments; beautiful crack-free dash, beautiful headliner, good carpet, Nardi steering wheel, etc... at the same time, the interior could reallybenefit from a set of nice Recaro seats to replace the existing factory seats. The passenger and rear seats are in good shape, the driver shows years of wear and tear, literally. The carpet in in very good shape, all the glass is fine, all the rubbers are decent, all lights, gauges and signals work fine. The odometer / speedometer work fine although, the speedo has fits of jumping from 30 to 50 at times. The horn is on a push button and is hooked up to an alarm horn, everyone gets a kick out of it- and it's LOUD!Suspension: The car has Bilstein shocks and struts, larger front sway bar, adjustable rear sway bar(could not read the name brand), Red urethane bushings, 15x8 wheels ("0" offset), 10mm rear spacers, New 205-50-15 Hankook tires. The front tires touch the top of the fender flares on big bumps,(the Zender flares are quite wide where they attach to the original body), I think a set of 195-50-15 front tires would correct this. It drives down the road straight, doesn't pull, doesn't dart, even brakes straight and evenly. Like I said above, the only change I would make is changing the front tires to lower the tire diameter.Overall, its a great car.Clean title.
