Sample Upholstery ApprenticeProduct DevelopmentBrief Description:• No experience required.• Starting pay is entry level with the ability to receive increases as skill level advances.• Qualified applicant will be responsible for investing time and dedication into learning the art of upholstery.• Must be able to absorb and retain taught techniques of the upholstery process.• Apprentice will work as part of a team, developing new upholstery products.• Troubleshoot potential roadblocks concerning new products before they are released for production.• Assist in creating solutions for increased productivity• First shift, Monday through Friday with overtime and Saturdays required based on production requirements• Must comply with all applicable Bernhardt workplace policiesand rules.During the Multi-Step Training Process, You Will Learn:• To build a custom upholstery piece per verbal instructions and or detailed drawings.• How to apply fabric, vinyl, or leather on upholstery frames to form smooth surfaces according to Bernhardt quality standards• The safe utilization of tools such as staple gun, scissors, regulator, button needle, staple puller, pliers, tape measure etc.Job Skills and Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent• You must have a positive attitude and be willing to learn the art of upholstery from a great team of skilled craftsmen.• The ability to read, understand, communicate and interpret written and verbal instructions• Candidates with previous experience in upholstery or candidates who demonstrate mechanical aptitude are preferred.• Must be able to communicate well with peers and supervisors to complete assignments by set deadlines• Ability to pay close attention to details• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of upholstery techniques by monitoring the upholstery industry to identify trends.• Keep work area clean and clear• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs individually and up to 100 lbs with assistance• The ability to stand, walk and move for up to eight hours per day• Essential job demands details include lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, standing as individual job requirements specify.• Must pass criminal background check and drug testingLearn a trade while working with craftsmen and top industry professionals - We encourage you to apply if you are passionate, quality minded, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have excellent work history. Trainee will be evaluated upon completion of initial training period for graduation into the final stages of the training program.
