Description:

An ideal Storage Administrator candidate has hands-on experience and deep knowledge of highly-available enterprise-level data storage environments, such as SAN, NAS and object storage. This position is an entry to mid-level position requiring some experience in administering, trouble-shooting and maintaining storage environments at similarly scaled higher-education, education or private industries. The storage administrator will help ensure optimal operating conditions for storage services, assist in capacity planning, patching and maintenance of existing storage environments. The storage administrator will work with additional platform teams to deploy storage solutions for IT services such as Oracle databases, VDI, VMware, cloud and NAS services, etc. A successful storage administrator will work with all team members cooperatively to architect, design and lead future storage services for the University. A successful candidate will possess the ability to serve as a primary knowledgeable resource for all storage environments under the purview of the Division of Information Technology.Candidates who are well versed with Dell/EMC Isilon, HPe Nimble storage arrays, and Dell/EMC SAN equipment are preferred. Knowledge and some experience with cloud storage services such as AWS S3 and Azure Blobs is desirable. Experience with backup software technology such as Spectrum Protect and Veeam is also desirable. Any storage administration and management experience will be considered, regardless of vendor specific technology. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Four years of work experience may be substituted for one year of education.Must have at least 3 to 5 years of responsibility in IT storage operations, recovery and design. Preferences Certification in EMC storage technologiesSkilled with command-line and text editing tools in Linux environmentsRedHat Linux 6 or 7 administration experienceVMware administration experienceWindows administration experienceKnowledge in REST API programming, continuous integration and automation is desirable.AWS knowledge is a plus Additional Information: *This position does not provide sponsorship for Visas. Physical Demands: May be required to lift and rack computing and storage equipment into data center racks and cabinets. Must be able to occasionally work in a data center environment where the ambient air temperature is 64-72 degrees.
