A CTSS practitioner function is to arrange for consistent and appropriate therapeutic skill building activities for children that meet requirements for medical necessity for interventions to enhance the resulting treatment plan from the Diagnostic Assessment performed by a mental health therapist. The emphasis is to guide the client in coping with their client’s mental health situation, socialization and self-sufficiency. Position Responsibilities: Provide mental health skills practice to children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbance and to their families. Assist the clients in maintaining and up to date comprehensive diagnostic assessment. Make referrals to inter agency resources and community resources as necessary. Make collateral contacts with other service providers on a regular basis. Receive supervision of mental health services activities including meeting with clinical supervisor or primary therapist on a weekly basis as a group or individual. All client skills training should be delivered after consultation with primary therapist. Attend staffing and case update meetings as needed and make recommendations. Attend all skills training sessions with clinical director or other approved training for CTSS. Provide individual or family skills support as per the client as per the client treatment plan. Assist in stabilizing a child following out of home placement. Develop skills learning activities for children or adolescents when this level of intervention is necessary. Maintain current and accurate case records on each client. Complete Mental Health Therapeutic Service eligibility forms and submit billing forms for services. Distribute and present information to the community for prevention and to create awareness of mental and emotional disturbance. Distribute tools and collect data used for program evaluations such as client satisfaction surveys. Provide service training to staff as needed. • Attend trainings that may assist in performance of job duties as directed. Attend all scheduled agency meetings. Submit Reservation Business Committee reports and Department of Human Services reports in an accurate, timely manner. Appropriate work attire is required. Must attend all mandatory department trainings. Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients. Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers. Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community. Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies. Position Qualifications: Class D Driver’s License required. Must meet criteria in any one of the following domains (1-4); 1. Holds a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and: a. Has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness; or b. Is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner’s clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met; 2. Has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness; 3. Is a graduate student in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training; 4. Holds a master's or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and has less than 4,000 hours post-master's experience in the treatment of mental illness. Must have knowledge of CTSS certification process and program implementation. Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, traditions and beliefs for a minimum of one year is required. Demonstrated experience working with Native American clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is required. Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required. Attention to detail and accuracy is required. Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
