The University of South Carolina seeks an Assessment Manager to develop a comprehensive and strategic assessment program for University Libraries. This individual will develop and lead projects that generate useful data about the impact of University Libraries and analyze and report this information to inform decision making. He/she will provide guidance and expertise to colleagues in evaluation and measurement of library activities. The Assessment Manager works with a team of librarians who have responsibility for coordinating assessment activities in the areas of user experience, research and instruction, and collections.Responsibilities include:* Analyze quantitative and qualitative data gathered from various sources including library systems, vendor statistics, observations, surveys, web analytics, interviews, and focus groups and facilitate the use of this data to support strategic library initiatives.* Investigate and communicate new methods for data collection, analysis, and documentation, and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve data collection protocols.*Recommend, implement and maintain systems to collect, store, and disseminate data.* Implement best practices for efficient and sustainable data collection, data privacy, data management, and data storage.* Measure progress toward strategic goals and prepare reports to library administration as required as well as annual reports and accreditation documents to the University and other external agencies.This is a tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Associate Dean Public Services.The University of South Carolina, founded in 1801, is the flagship campus of an eight-campus, fully accredited, state-system. USC is an EOE. Required: Master's Degree or PhD in social sciences, statistics, or other relevant discipline or a Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. Minimum 3 years of demonstrable professional experience. Experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data analysis methodologies. Experience in conducting assessment projects and in providing recommendations for improvements. Experience with program/outcomes evaluation, research design, instrument design, and the management, analysis, and reporting of data. Effective oral and written communication skills. Experience working in academic libraries or a higher education environment. Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of the operations, services, key issues and trends in academic libraries and institutions of higher education. Familiarity with assessment software and statistical tools such as NVivo or SPSS. Experience in designing and/or conducting usability testing and facilitating focus groups. Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to communicate assessment results.
