Ampico Popular Reproducing Piano Rolls, Played by Andrei Kmita — Lot of 2 1. Ampico-Artigraphic Record Music Roll 51733D: Poor Butterfly “Big Show” (Song), Hubbel. Played by Andrei Kmita Condition: This Artigraphic roll is quite old. The box shows its age but is still complete and functional. The roll shows slight wear to the leader edges; but otherwise, the roll is in reasonably good condition and should play without problems. Please examine all the photos. 2. Ampico Recording 881-F (Recording With Words): Who Knows? Ball. Played by Andrei Kmita. Condition: The box on this original recording is in poor condition with the rear section of the outer box completely missing (see photos). The roll, however, is also in reasonably good condition and should play without problems. Any roll I sell is returnable for a complete refund if the roll will not play properly on your properly adjusted reproducing piano. Andrei Kmita was one of the pseudonyms, among others, used by Howard A. Brockway (November 22, 1870 - February 20, 1951) for his Ampico recordings. He is considered one of the most prolific performers for Ampico and recorded under his real name, Howard Brockway, as well. I discovered the reproducing piano in 1971 while studying flute in London and coming across Frank Holland’s famous museum dedicated to automated musical instruments. He was quite a character! Subsequently, I owned and enjoyed three different pianos, including Duo-Art, Ampico, and Welte (Licensee). My roll purchases were mainly from the 70s into the early 90s, when I began to sell the pianos. I am just now getting around to selling my collection of reproducing piano rolls. The collection includes Duo-Art, Ampico, and Welte Licensee. Many are original, period rolls; but there are also many recuts. The selection of rolls shows my preferences as a professional orchestral flutist since 1967. The rolls have always been stored properly in closed cabinets, are in excellent condition, and are guaranteed to play well on your properly regulated reproducing piano. I will also be listing a few standard 88-note rolls that caught my fancy. Please examine all the photos, as they are part of the description of the roll. I’ve tried to show the condition of the rolls, the leaders, and the boxes. If you have any questions concerning a roll, feel free to contact me. Watch for more rolls up for auction. I will be grouping lots according to the performer. Nearly all are what I call “European art music,” featuring the great students of Liszt and Leschetitzky, among other famous pianists. I do have some “popular hits of the day” that caught my fancy. Please note that I ship only to verified eBay addresses within the United States. That means no foreign sales.
