I have a brand new hinged aluminum spare tire lid for sale from Project Tuner. This is a lightweight, sturdy panel that sits under the carpet in the trunk, covering the spare tire. The lid is cushioned with thick foam supports to prevent rattles and can be bolted straight in. With a sub mounted in the trunk, the metal panel will greatly enhance the acoustical resonance of your sound system. Plus, this spare tire cover has a much larger weight capacity than the OEM fiberboard and, since it's metal, it won't deteriorate if you have a leaky trunk.
