GRADE: 74 SALARY : Begins at $53,700/year with full benefits package. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: PHN II is responsible for the coordination of the Communicable Disease programs to address disease prevention, education, awareness, and treatment. Duties include: provide nursing services for the prevention and control of communicable diseases in Sampson County through the Sampson County Health Department; promote prevention and education through the communicable disease programs; reduce morbidity and mortality through the communicable disease programs; provide coordination of COVID-19 activities and events; and coordinate with the Health and Nursing Directors to assist with the supervision of response to disasters and emergency events that may affect the health and well-being of Sampson County residents. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of and skills in the application of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs and of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed; general knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health. Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others; to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgement in appraising situations and making decision; to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information, and to maintain effective working relationships; and to accurately record services rendered and interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience is required. Must hold and maintain a current license to practice registered nursing in the state of North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing.
