The team at Cayuga Orthopedics specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and disorders of the skeletal system and associated joints, muscles, and ligaments. The provider teams at Cayuga Orthopedics care for all types of musculoskeletal injuries, both surgical and nonsurgical, and has a wealth of expertise in general orthopedics, sports medicine, surgery of the foot and ankle, hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and joint replacement. We are a busy outpatient practice with a large clinical and clerical team to support our patient load. What's the role? The purpose of this job is to support the physicians and/or Advanced Practice providers in the practice and operating room with clinical activities and direct patient care. In the OR, the Surgical Technician will provide 2 nd assist support or 1 st assist support when needed. The Surgical Technician may also assist in Clinic fulfilling clinical or clerical needs on days where a 2 nd assist in the OR is not needed. What you'll do: In the OR- 2 nd assist, as required, with OR cases 1 st assist if necessary for OR cases, will NOT close wounds. Assist with the opening/evaluation of OR trays. Position patients and drape OR cases. Clean helmets and batteries. Assist with flip rooms. Assist with splint/cast changes in ER and hospital floor. Make splints ahead of time for OR cases. In outpatient Clinic- Provide clinical staffing support up to scope of license (Medical Assistant) Take and record patient's vital signs. Prepares exam rooms and sterilizes equipment and supplies per protocols. Assists physicians/providers with procedures, patient care and/or scheduling. Provides call management for physicians/providers with regard to clinical questions, prescription refills, test results and other patient calls per practice protocols. Prepares patient's record for visit, as directed by physician/provider. Provide clerical support on the front-end team, which could include: Answering phone calls and taking messages Medical Records management Scheduling appointments Checking patients in or out Our ideal candidate will have: Certification as Surgical Technologist from an accredited program Demonstrated clinical competency Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of diseases and treatment Ability to apply aseptic tech and sterilization Knowledge of the practice management system, EMR (both Medent and Meditech) and scheduling protocols Basic keyboard skill Ability to take direction Strong interpersonal skills Sound surgical technique Knowledge of procedure and surgical equipment High level of accuracy in performing responsibilities Ability to understand and maintain a surgical field Understands the duties above and can physically provide the services of surgical assist *Please note, not all of the listed skills are necessary to be qualified or considered for this role.
