General Summary of Duties: Collects blood and checks the quality of blood from donors. Example of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned) Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products. Performs venipuncture, capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens. Instructs patients on urine collection procedures. Allocates urine specimens. Assists in the processing of laboratory specimens. Cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area. Inventories supplies and places orders Enter laboratory data into the computer system. Attends required meetings and participants in committees as requested. Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and educational programs. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs related work as required. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program. Computer experience required. Experience: One year of phlebotomy experience. Certification/License: P hlebotomy certification preferred . Requires valid driver's license.
