The Sisters of the Humility of Mary are seeking an energetic individual to assist the Director of Land Management with the overall operation and maintenance of the Villa Maria Farm and its property. This position is responsible for the safe, economical operation and repair of equipment. Required Skills and Abilities: Administration: 1. Works with personnel during seasonal or peak periods of high labor demands. 2. Maintains filed records and a notebook for reference of past work. Farm & Land: 1. Assists in planning and maintaining a crop rotation and implementing a conservation plan. 2. Helps plant and harvests garden crops. 3. Serves as land management department mechanic by adjusting, repairing, and maintaining equipment for crop production. 4. Removes tree branches, rocks, and stones from planting areas to prevent equipment damage. 5. Cut, ted, rake, bale, move and store hay. 6. Assists with weeding, pruning, harvesting, grapevine control and planting when necessary. 7. Assists with forestry-related projects. 8. Mows fields that are fallow to prevent the spreading of weeds and saplings. 9. Keeps roadways open to wooded areas for fire protection. 10. Other duties as assigned. Other Duties: 1. Assists Director with non-related functions including nature trail maintenance, hosting farm tours, etc. 2. Assists with greenhouse operations. 3. Assists with produce production. 4. Cuts firewood EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate degree (Agricultural Science) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
