Who You Are: Our client's Climate and Energy team seeks a highly motivated Manager to coordinate its steel-industry decarbonization campaign, crucial to eliminating the 7 percent of greenhouse gas emissions originating from this industry. Working in tandem with the Policy and Investor teams, you will exercise the relationship management skills necessary to mobilize investors, policymakers and buyers to encourage steelmaker investment in clean emission-reduction technologies. As a manager, you are also fluent in financial systems management and understand the relationship between risk and capital. You are enthusiastic about initiating the necessary dialogues with domestic and international entities such as NGOs and governments to facilitate public and private facing worldwide steel-emissions standards. You will also do so with a commitment to ensuring a just transition for workers and communities impacted by this sector. What You Will Be Doing: Team: Ceres Climate and Energy team works to decarbonize the highest emitting sectors of the U.S economy, from oil and gas , electric power, and steel to food, finance, and transportation. We work directly with investors and companies to advance sustainable solutions and change current business strategies t o mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis, protect water and natural resources, and create a more just and equi table world. Position: The Manager, Steel Campaign will proactively support the Director, Clean Energy Solutions through strategizing of mobilization and collaboration with the organization's industry partners. Further, the Manager will advocate for Climate and Energy initiatives.  This is a full-time salaried position, working remotely. Employees may occasionally be asked to travel to the organization's Boston or San Francisco office. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and implement campaign strategies and tactics to encourage steel industry investment in low-emissions technology. Work with, expand, and mobilize an existing investor coalition with the goal of encouraging investment in low-emissions technology. Continue to build the business case for investor action on steel industry decarbonization through research and possible report production. Develop and execute communications tactics to persuade key decision makers of the business and competitiveness case for steel industry decarbonization. Partner closely with other teams, including the policy and investor teams, to execute the organization's clean steel strategy. Coordinate collaboration on steel with a broad range of national and international NGOs. As needed, support related work, for instance, on green hydrogen research, development and deployment. Lead workshop design and oversee participation in the organization's Conference Represent the organization as a speaker at conferences and events. Through in-person meetings, conference calls, electronic communication, and written material, engage with companies, investors, and other stakeholders. Conduct annual assessment of campaign outcomes and recommend updated strategies and tactics based on evaluation. Relevant educational background. Knowledge of environmental, climate, energy, and sustainability issues and an understanding of corporations, the socially responsible investment community, and the environmental, sustainability, labor, and environmental justice movements. Effective presentation style and excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interface with senior industry executives, policymakers and peer organizations Sound judgment, sensitivity to diverse constituencies, excellent interpersonal skills, strong initiative and motivation. Advocacy or campaign experience is preferred. Successful record of organizing multiple projects and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to conduct and synthesize research on climate, energy, and industrial policy. Willingness to travel as needed to accomplish duties noted above. Knowledge of industrial energy use and GHG emissions management is preferred. Additional Information: This is a remote position. Hiring salary is $79,550 to $81,550 paired with competitive benefits.
