Overview: The Motor Shop Operations Manager (Operations Manager) - will lead the day-to-day operations of the motor shop and field repair operation (Memphis) providing market leading testing & repair services for customers across various industries. HI-Speed provides overhead crane sales and service, electric motor sales & service, 24x7 field support, predictive and preventative maintenance & testing services and maintains a critical parts inventory required to keep customers rolling around the clock.The company was acquired by Mr. Ben Buffington in May 2011. Mr. Buffington has served as President & CEO of the company since 2011. During his tenure, Mr. Buffington has carried on the rich history of the company which has more than doubled sales while expanding the reach of the company throughout West Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, Arkansas and the region. The success of the company is result of a great team of employees dedicated to quality, service and culture. Summary: The Operations Manager is an experienced manager tasked with leading the motor shop team to outperform customer expectations and develop the team going into the future.This role is a key part of the motor shop leadership team and reports directly to the Director of Motor Shop Operations. The successful candidate will inherit a team in an EASA Accredited organization that is in place and engaged. The successful candidate must quickly assess and get to know the team, evaluate the current operation, and learn the HI-Speed culture. This culture is best described as a family that works best when everyone works together to support the mutual success of the team. Responsibilities: Operational Manager in charge of the electromechanical repair operations of the business Process owner for testing, repair and refurbishment activities in both the Memphis location and field operations Process leader for work flow, job flow, resource planning, estimating, and shop cost management Champion for ongoing EASA accreditation and various other certifications and regulatory agencies Provide training, direction and support to employees in their assigned job responsibilities Ensure employees maintain highest level of professionalism and competence Evaluate employee performance and provide appropriate feedback Maintain positive and results-oriented work environment for employees Report on Monthly Financial Performance and utilize data to draw conclusions on department performance and make improvements/adjustments on operations. Participate in annual budget preparation and support/contribute to 3-5 year strategic plan Will support and maintain established policies and procedures Lead team meeting(s) to discuss updates, issues and recommendations to drive results Maintain clarity and consistency in all business communications Qualifications: HI-Speed is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that appeals to a leader with strong execution skills and a passion for building and leading a results-oriented team. The successful candidate, will have the following skills: 5 years' experience in rotating equipment or similar type industry 2 years of successful leadership of a team of at least 5 employees Experienced working through difficult situations with customers Experience generating and reviewing quotations. Able to perform employee reviews in a quality fashion. Involved in industry associations. Microsoft Office basic skills Experience managing multiple projects or jobs and meeting deadlines. Ability to inspire the team working for them. Experience thinking on their feet to resolve tough customer issues quickly. Experienced in and can clearly articulate resolving customer issues. Good mechanical aptitude Personal Characteristics: Experience with developing and executing successful employee development plans Drive to constantly self-develop and learn. Willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done, including after hours as the customer and business requires. Ability to work well with other departments with a focus on the good of the whole.
