ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY Plant Maintenance Technician Wastewater Treatment Plants Sugar Land, TX SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair Brazos River Authority (BRA) wastewater facilities, equipment, projects, and grounds. This is accomplished by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment; troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining pumps, motors, blowers, and plumbing; checking plant parameters; entering data in the log books; calibrating and maintaining lab equipment; inspecting machinery and equipment; and performing general and preventative maintenance on buildings and grounds. Other responsibilities include maintaining interior offices; performing grounds maintenance at facilities; maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment; and any other duties as assigned . REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in all sections of wastewater treatment systems including: materials, methods, and techniques used in construction, maintenance, and electrical repairs; vehicle maintenance and repair; welding and pipe fitting; methods, practices, and equipment used in a water laboratory; state and federal regulations regarding water treatment; and basic knowledge of chemistry; and safety procedures and first aid training. Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: . High school graduation, or its equivalent, and four years of experience in general construction or maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities . POSTING DATE : July 6, 2018 STARTING DATE: September 1, 2018 WORK SCHEDULE: This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty for emergency calls. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED : Current Texas driver's license and a good driving record are required as this position will be required to travel as needed to other locations. A company vehicle will be available for such travel. Class D wastewater certification preferred. SALARY : $14.06 to $21.80 per hour (depending on qualifications). This is a non-exempt position. BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY : The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
