This position is responsible for not only teaching our wonderful 7th and 8th graders but inspiring them to become lifelong learners. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A LANGUAGE ARTS / SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER As a Language Arts / Social Studies Teacher, you prepare and organize learning activities to engage your 7th and 8th graders and spark their passion for learning. During your planning, you consider the individuality and culture of each student and adapt teaching strategies suited to their educational needs. Because middle school is when many kids stop reading for fun, teaching middle school language arts is like being a battlefield medic -- your goal is to save their love for stories. Whether its language arts or social studies, you strive to make your lessons come to life.Your excellent interpersonal skills assist you as you interact with parents, staff, and other essential partners in the education of your students. In cooperation with the principal and your colleagues, you maintain good order and discipline in your classroom and on school premises. Teaching tweens and young teens can be challenging, but you know that it is also one of the most rewarding jobs you could ever have.
