Associate Counsel Washington, DC - Full time New Columbia Solar (NCS) is a solar energy company specializing in developing, financing, and operating solar energy systems within the built environment. The company designs and delivers comprehensive procurement and solar investment solutions for businesses, municipalities, and institutions empowering them to achieve their sustainability goals and positively impact their community. NCS is the leading developer, owner, and operator of Commercial & Industrial solar projects in the Washington, DC area and is expanding its footprint to new markets. NCS is looking for a full-time Associate Counsel to join our Legal team. This person will report to the General Counsel and will support our business teams on transactional matters related to the development and financing of solar energy projects. The role will require prior experience in fields such as project development, project acquisition, project finance and general corporate matters. This position is based in Washington, DC. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Draft and negotiate various solar development contracts, including real estate documents, power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, master service agreements, consulting agreements, and non-disclosure agreements Draft and negotiate various financing documents and certificates Maintain and update standard contract templates, legal forms, policies, and guidelines Manage any legal disputes Other day-to-day business and legal affairs related duties and tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: JD and admitted and in good standing in at least one State bar (DC preferred but not required) 5+ years relevant experience working as legal counsel on renewable energy matters Proficiency in drafting and negotiating several types of contracts Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently, plan and take initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner with minimal supervision Highly organized and detail-oriented with a high personal standard for quality Analytical, pragmatic and a thoughtful communicator - you can explain and problem-solve issues with non-subject matter experts across different business units Able to prioritize among multiple obligations in a fast-paced environment Full-time availability Vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 Must be able to legally work in the U.S. Preferred Experience: Renewable energy financing experience Comfortable handling legal disputes and managing outside counsel Familiarity with handling personnel/employment matters Based in Washington, DC metro area Benefits: 401k Plan With 3% Employer Contribution Flexible Leave Policy Choice of Medical Plans Dental Vision Company Paid Short Term Disability Company Paid Long Term Disability Company Paid Life & AD&D Insurance Voluntary Life Insurance Professional Growth and Development Budget How to Apply: For consideration, please apply through the company website at: www.newcolumbiasolar.com/careers ______________________________________________________________________________ Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: New Columbia Solar is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
