WE ARE HIRING JOIN OUR TEAM The Georgetown Public Works Department is now accepting applications for Grounds Maintenance Technician I position. Position Overview: Under general supervision, maintains grounds along City streets and rights-of-way. Assists with construction and maintenance of the city's bridges, driveways, sidewalks, curbs, and adjacent grounds. Reports to the Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS: Mows and maintains grass along roads, streets, and rights-of-way.Keeps streets and rights-of-way clean and free of debris.Collects and disposes of bulky trash, limbs, tires, and other waste/debris.Receives and/or reviews various records and reports to include work orders.Interacts and communicates with various internal and external groups and individuals.Operates a variety of machinery, tools, and equipment including blowers, mowers, weed eaters, pole saws, hand tools, etc.Performs the duties of a Sanitation Worker and assists Street and Solid Waste Branch with various duties when assigned.Assists department personnel with special events (i.e., installing stages, barricades, tents) within the city.Complies with established policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Wears and maintains all personal protective equipment properly and reports unsafe work practices, injuries, or illnesses immediately to supervisor/management.Attends meetings and training to enhance knowledge and skills.Performs other related duties as required. Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of heavy machines and equipment and exert force to push, lift, reach, carry, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, crouch, crawl, or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift/carry weights of up to 100 pounds. Qualifications and Requirements: High School Diploma and a minimum of three (3) months experience in a job- related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Pesticide Certification preferred South Carolina CDL preferred.
