We're excited that you are interested in joining our team! About the position: We are looking for a machine operator for our Single-Sided Boring/Doweling machine. This position operates the Single-Sided Boring/ Doweling Machine. This machine bores holes and inserts glue/dowels into Birch Plywood and Laminate parts. The operator should have a keen eye for quality and be familiar with its safety features and guidelines. The position also involves the upkeep and maintenance of the machines' area. The operator will also coordinate and work closely with the upcoming shift to determine any needs that may arise regarding changeover. Essential Functions: Start up and shut down the machine. Understand the programing of this machine along with how to locate and maneuver the programs needed to operate it. Understand the machine code or is able to learn this. Communicate with QA to review parts or quality issues. Conduct basic maintenance on the machine. Familiar with all emergency shut offs and stops/resets. Understand and follows the enhanced dispatch list. Enter maintenance requests. Understand and follow lockout procedures. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job. Hours are typically from 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday Additional Functions: May be responsible for training others on the machine's operation. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner. Mechanical aptitude. Excellent understanding of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine. Excellent communication skills required to ensure communication between shifts. Working Conditions: Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold. Worker may be subject to vibration. Worker is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat. Physical Requirements: Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs.
