The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides opportunities for people to connect with nature. We offer to the public 60 forest preserves, 145 miles of trails, 47 miles of rivers and streams, and 6 nature and cultural centers. We have 6 million visitors each year. The District's mission is, "to acquire and hold lands containing forests, prairies, wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty for the education, pleasure and recreation of it's citizens. Job Purpose This position provides guests with a fun and engaging experience in the clubhouse restaurant by demonstrating strong drink making and craft beer knowledge, solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong teamwork. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes Stock/restock appropriate areas of the bar with alcohol, glassware, ice and supplies Check guests for proper identification Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives and blenders Demonstrate working knowledge of food, wine, craft spirits & beer, and enthusiasm for learning more to enhance knowledge of the craft of bartending Serve food to guest seated in the bar area and fulfill customer orders at the bar patio service window Follow current bar workflows and provide suggestions to management to improve processes Assist servers in delivering fast and accurate service to the floor Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the FPDDC, DuPage Golf and Health Department for all health and safety regulations Perform all opening and closing tasks Perform other duties as required Related Experience: 2 years experience in high-volume restaurant, or equivalent combination of training and experience food and beverage pairing, craft and classic cocktails, craft beers are all desirable experiences. Casual/Upscale Casual restaurant experience, high-volume serving experience preferred. Minimum Qualifications, special training or other license, certification, etc.: Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire, ability to obtain Illinois Food Handler Training and Certification and possession of Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) Program certification within 30 days of employment. Schedule and Availability: Availability to work should include opening shifts and weekend and holidays, based on customer traffic and business needs. Knowledge Of: Craft beer and styles, wine varietals, vast liquor knowledge, Food Safety, proper serving techniques and restaurant tableware.
