Global Leadership Academy Charter School A Global Academies School Preparing Future Leaders of the World Job Description Position Title: Scholar Support Specialist Reports to: Chief Executive Officer & School Culture & Climate Coordinator POSITION SUMMARY The Scholar Support Specialist (S3) will provide extended classroom support throughout the academy and follow up for students who have received services/ supports via MTSS ( Multi-Tier System of Support) , Specialized Services, or 3 rd party behavioral agency. Scholar Support Specialist (S3) will monitor , and model evidence/research-based behavior intervention strategies based on the direction and recommendations of the School Culture & Climate Coordinator and/ or Climate Specialist. The S3 will help with data collection and analysis, communicate with Climate Specialist regarding further needs, and ensure that behavior interventions will be practiced with fidelity. The S3 will be a resource for equitable opportunities for students with challenging behavioral, social, emotional, and academic deficits. The S3 will work to maintain the interventions with existing supports in the school/ academy, and support where else about the building when required . GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Developing and maintaining positive relationships with scholars, staff and families Implementing positive behavior support plans and tracking scholar behavioral progress through MTSS, Live School, and any other research-based program. Provides support to scholars during classroom lessons, socialization times, admissions, dismissal, and other activities. Conduct daily uniform checks for scholars and communicate uniform concerns to parents/ families. Redirect and de-escalate acting-out behaviors when required. Implement norms and consequences consistent with school/ academy-based programming. Supporting the school/ academy with aesthetics and imagery that reinforces scholar greatness and school/ academy norms consistent with PBIS. Implement social emotional learning consistent with the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Curriculum. Facilitate small groups that target Global Leadership Academ y Core Jewels and academic enrichment. Actively Monitor scholars in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, inside/ outside activities, etc. Facilitate restorative practices and circles to support scholar behavior, foster positive peer interaction, and conflict resolution. Assist with Standardized State Testing Implement behavioral support plans to support Tier II and Tier III scholars Document incidents involving scholar behavior and report accordingly consistent with Global Leadership Academy process and procedures. Model all Global Leadership Academy expectations QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent Prefer a minimum of two years' experience in a school-based setting. Computer literate Professional tone and temperament Task oriented.
