We are currently looking for a Supervisor, System Engineering who will supervise and manage a staff of engineers and technical resources responsible for development of engineering designs, system analyses, and communication of technical and design information to NOVEC customers, government entities and third party builders and developers. The supervisor manages and evaluates the performance of assigned technical staff and proactively initiates measures to correct instances of work product not meeting established quality standards. This position will lead and mentor assigned technical staff in developing solutions to complex technical challenges as assigned by the manager. This position will also represent and articulate the NOVEC position on matters related to electric distribution infrastructure at public hearings, community gatherings and before regulatory bodies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but are not limited to, the following: Manages a staff of engineers and technical support staff to develop engineering designs, system analyses, and system improvement projects and programs. Manages the communication of information to the following parties: internal, external customers, counties, builders & developers. Supervises technical staff in the preparation utility engineering designs, system analyses, and work orders. Schedules and assigns technical staff projects and daily work. Manages the development of the technical staff through mentoring, instruction of technical engineering principles and identification of appropriate training opportunities. Teaches all applicable governing codes for conforming engineering designs. Leads large projects and programs as assigned by the Manager, System Engineering. Provides instruction to the technical staff in areas of company policies, safety, terms and conditions under which NOVEC provides electric service. Provides instruction on the use of computer systems and software, tools and equipment, and motor vehicles used by the technical staff on a daily basis. Provides guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders. Evaluates the performance and development of technical staff. Develops, evaluates, and maintains best practices and policies for the development of engineering designs and system analyses. Collaborates with other supervisors in Distribution Design, GIS, Standards, Work Management, Substation and Telecomm, Metering, Operations and Construction to get projects completed in timely and accurate fashion. Assists the Manager, System Engineering as required. Assists other departments and divisions as required. Performs other duties as assigned. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required. Five to seven years of utility related experience in engineering analysis, planning, and design of electric distribution systems. Professional Engineer license is preferred. Prior experience supervising engineers, engineering technicians, staking engineers, or utility designers is preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage people and projects.
