POSITION SUMMARY : The Advocate Department of Crisis Services is Erie County's Rape Crisis Center and a licensed Non-Residential Domestic Violence Service Provider in New York State. The Department provides comprehensive victim services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence and/or elder abuse. The Domestic Violence Case Manager will provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy and follow-up services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, with a focus on the Erie County Sherriff's Office jurisdiction. Such response is intended to reduce trauma, promote offender accountability and facilitate healing. The Case Manager will provide personal and criminal justice advocacy and accompaniment for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Additional support for survivors may be provided during presentation at Erie County emergency departments, other Erie County police precincts, and/or court proceedings. The Case Manager will assist with linkages between law enforcement, the district attorney's office and other community-based agencies working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. The position requires mandatory on-call shifts, in addition to regularly scheduled 40 hours/week. The regular hours are Monday-Friday, typically 8a-4p or 9a-5pm. Final scheduled to be determined, some evening and/or weekend hours required. This position is co-located at the Erie County Sherriff's Office. To be considered for this position, the successful candidate must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination. Essential Functions of the Position Include, But Are Not Limited to: Maintain a commitment to the mission and work of Crisis Services with a deep appreciation for and sensitivity to the guiding principles of the organization. Assists in ensuring provision of Advocate Department services co-located at the Erie County Sherriff's Office including, but not limited to: Provide case management services to an on-going caseload of clients, which includes crisis intervention response, follow up and outreach to clients, linkage to community resources, assistance in obtaining victim compensation, safety planning and assistance with criminal justice processes to assist with reduction in victimization, increased level of functioning, improved capacity for independence, reduction in level of isolation. Provide on-site assessment and crisis intervention response to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault that present at the Erie County Sherriff's Office, in addition to other Erie County police precincts, district attorney's office and other community-based locations. Provide on-going court accompaniment for clients in both criminal and family court. Provide follow up on all Domestic Violence Incident Reports filed through the Erie County Sherriff's Office. Performs follow-up site visits/outreach to clients. Maintains appropriate client records. Maintains a commitment to quality client service for the agency, allied partners, members, and communities at large. Participates in mandatory agency meetings and quality assurance activities. Attends required training and professional development opportunities. Represent the department and agency on community coalitions and committees, when requested. Responds to local county emergency rooms as part of the Advocate Hospital Response Program to provide crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, family violence and/or elder abuse and/or provides consultation to Volunteers who are on call for the Hospital Response Program. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department. Hospital On-Call is required for this position outside of the regularly scheduled 40 hours per week . A minimum of 48 on-call hours and a maximum of 96 on-call hours per month is required. When On Call, staff may be activated which requires staff to respond to local county emergency rooms to provide crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, family violence and/or elder abuse and/or provide support to Volunteers who are on call for the Hospital Response Program Position Qualifications: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree from an accredited college and/or university in human service field, public health, social work or education PAY RATE: Position starts at $17.47/ hour but can increase up to $18.47/ hour based on experience EXPERIENCE : Bachelor's Degree plus minimum of 6 months to 1-year experience, preferably providing direct services in domestic/family violence response and/or prevention work OR Master's Degree in human services or related field. Valid NYS driver's license is required with a clean driving record and access to reliable automobile. To be considered for this position, the successful candidate must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination . SKILLS : Demonstrated knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and effects, public awareness and crisis intervention services. Clear and calm judgment centered on survivors, discretion and competency for strategic and diplomatic collaboration. Knowledge of practices and principles of empowerment and ability to maintain ethical boundaries with clients. Ability to demonstrate high level of compassion, confidentiality and understanding for clients. Ability to work independently. Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail, and be able to maintain accurate records. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, manage multiple tasks, and establish priorities in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment.
