The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking Lifeguard Instructors to train our next generations of YMCA lifeguards and aquatics personnel. The Certifications Instructor will teach and lead courses for employees of the YMCA, as well as the public. These courses may include CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Red Cross Babysitting, and Lifeguard certifications. Responsibilities: Instructs certification courses adhering to YMCA guidelines and organization (Red Cross, ASHI, etc.) requirements. Maintains current instructor certifications for courses identified to instruct. Develops and manages the course materials and student credits as needed. Maintains records as required (attendance, progress reports, etc.). Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned. Attends staff meetings and in-service training. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: Current Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification. Current First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Oxygen Administration certification. Current ASHI First Aid, CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor Certification. Demonstrated instructor skills meeting YMCA standards and ability to build effective, authentic relationships with course participants. YLG Training Standards Review for Instructors, Trainers, and Faculty within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading and instructing preferred. YMCA Teaching Fundamentals. YMCA Principles of Aquatic Leadership. Salary range: $18.50-31/ per hour based on experience and availability. This position is part time, year round and can be combined with other opportunities in at our YMCA for up to 28 hours per week. All YMCA part-time staff working 10+ hours each week are eligible to receive a free family membership: Staff who work 10+ hours a week earn 50% to 100% off YMCA of Northern Colorado Programs. That includes free YMCA Camp Noco traditional day camp, youth sports, learn to skate and swim lessons, and half off YMCA Camp Santa Maria overnight camp, personal training, specialty summer camps, and childcare. If you work 20+ hours a week, your benefits grow from there. Sick time is earned from day 1, and we make contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.
