Come work with us! This team member will serve as Maintenance Mechanic - Water Utilities. BASIC FUNCTION Performs intermediate skilled trades work installing, maintaining, fabricating, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all industrial equipment including, but not limited to pumps, motors, valves, gear reducers, and piping, checking equipment and making equipment modifications and improvements to ensure correct operation, or related work as apparent or assigned. Work will be performed in a wastewater treatment facility or a water treatment facility as well as remote pump stations and other facilities appurtenant to the utility system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains, repairs, and performs basic preventative maintenance on pumps, valves, gear reducers, and associated wastewater equipment at the main facility and pump stations. Troubleshoots and repairs basic mechanical equipment and systems such as bearing and seal replacements, belt replacement and alignment, valve rebuilding and replacement, basic pipefitting, screw conveyors, and clarifier systems. Repairs and replaces ductile iron, carbon steel, and PVC pipe. Installs new equipment. Checks equipment and takes steps to ensure optimization of plant effectiveness and compliance. Assists operators, electricians, and instrumentation maintenance personnel with maintenance tasks to operate and maintain facilities. All other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Skilled trades work including basic electrical and plumbing. Preventative maintenance on industrial equipment including, pumps, motors, valves, piping, and electrical controls. Basic municipal waterworks. Ability to operate assigned equipment with skill and safety; work without immediate supervision. Ability to follow oral and written directions; read meters, charts, and technical manuals and drawings accurately and to maintain records.
