Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be a visible leader who is an active member of the school community. Understand adolescent education and how to effectively balance the social and emotional needs of students and staff with the challenges of providing a well-rounded and rigorous academic program. Cultivate practices in which culture and climate can be shaped to optimize the learning environment. Have a solid understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment and sound pedagogy including the use of data and technology to enhance learning. Be a contributing member of our administrative team-constantly striving to improve the educational opportunities for all students. Requirement: Valid New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL/SAS) OR School District Leader (SDL/SDA). Minimum three years' experience as a building administrator preferred. Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and current trends of school administration, special education, instructional leadership, management and supervision Additional benefits include Agency paid: Life Insurance Short Term and Long Term disability Free meals in our onsite cafeteria The Children's Home of Kingston's school, Grove Street Academy, is a NYSED Certified 853 special education program located on the campus of the Children's Home of Kingston in Kingston, NY. Grove Street Academy provides necessary educational services for both day and residential students age range 8-21, grades 4th -12th. Grove Street Academy specializes in small classroom settings and utilizes evidence-based practices on campus and within the community. We integrate a Trauma System Therapy (TST) model throughout the campus to provide the students and their families with a system of support and interventions that are not readily available within the public education sectors.
