The Dürr Group operates in the market with five divisions: Paint and Final Assembly Systems: paint shops and final assembly systems for the automotive industry Application Technology: robot technologies for the automatic application of paint as well as sealants and adhesives Clean Technology Systems: exhaust-air purification systems and energy efficiency technology Measuring and Process Systems: balancing systems as well as assembly, testing and filling technology Woodworking Machinery and Systems: machinery and equipment for the woodworking industry Location: Southfield, MI Position Summary: Paint automation process specialist needed to support our industrial equipment business to provide customer service, equipment and application problem solving, provide training to distributors, end users, and company employees, provide on-site support for installations, commissioning, and paint application process tuning activities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Utilize knowledge to support both external and internal customers in the areas of user training, component repair, on-site supervision for system installations, and process evaluations in the paint lab Responsible for product knowledge to answer customer questions Perform equipment service visits at customer facilities upon request Pre-assemble components and prepare equipment in house prior to shipping Excellent oral communication for customer service when interacting with customers Working knowledge of the effects of paint equipment parameters and finish surface quality Maintains quality by following equipment standards, recommending improved procedures Robot path teaching experience for Fanuc, Yaskawa, Kawasaki, Dürr Ability to organize and execute paint process trials in a test lab setting Continuous improvement of processes, utilize systematic problem-solving analysis fish bone Use predictive maintenance and failure mode tools, FMEA, MTTR, MTTF, etc Provide informal training to customers upon special request Qualifications: Minimum 8-year experience in the following areas: Hand-on experience using electrostatic rotary bell applicators, preferably Durr Paint spraying processes and paint chemistry Ability to read and understand drawings and bill of materials, equipment specifications Strong mechanical skills such as machine tool repair, working with tools Paint supply pumps and circulation systems, fluid dynamics pressures and flows Strong electrical skills working knowledge of electrical controls and operator interfaces Experience with 2-component spraying equipment systems Experience with industrial PLC's, HMI's, AutoCAD Must have a bachelor's degree Strong Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Additional Requirements Pass a pre-employment drug test and be able to pass a drug test at any time during employment. Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distance vision. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Climb ladders or stairs Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule and are flexible with manager approval. Evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands. Travel: This position requires some travel, up to 60%, overnight travel is anticipated. Travel can be both local and international.
