Together, we lead and leave a positive impact on societies, companies, and people around the world.You will join our Health & Safety Team as a contractor supporting our client's teams and employees. As the new County Health & Safety Director, you will be an active part of our team that manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures. You will collaborate with H&S Managers and evaluate the organization's processes, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify conditions and implementing safeguards and solutions, ensuring employees and subcontractors are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be: Director would work at direction of the County and utilize what vendors and firms the County sees fit. They should select training and programs that provide the best independent solution to the County Manage the County's two safety officers and provides daily work assignments to achieve program success. Coordinate the development of the County's safety plan to include self-performing work and outsourcing as needed and as directed. Work with managers to audit programs, job descriptions, develop equipment trainings etc. Director would need to be innovative in development of a modern-day technology centric program. Director must take direction well and willing to work with the intent of the County while maintaining regulatory compliance. Your starting point for constant growth We are looking for a contracted Health & Safety Director with experience in administering safety in multiple areas involving infrastructure, utilities, wastewater treatment, and the typical range of county-controlled resources, as well as the ability to provide technical safety support and leadership. For this role, we believe your starting point is: Confident knowledge of health and safety regulations/standards applicable to safety activities Ability to make sound judgments independently. Detail-oriented and the ability to assess and analyse situations quickly. Professional and confident persona when correcting unsafe behaviours that are observed or reported at projects or office locations. Build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies. Good presentation, interpersonal, and written communications skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Basic Qualifications: Ten plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Course. FA/CPR Ability to complete light to medium physical activities. Ability to travel for extended periods of 100% when assigned to field projects. Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergencies Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Preferred qualifications: Advanced training or education in accident prevention or occupational health and safety fields is highly desirable. Position Logistics This position requires the individual to be on-site in Spotsylvania, VA (located on the client site daily). Work on site for a minimum 3 days per week. Other days may be teleworked. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Compensation includes overtime for project hours worked over 40 per week.
