This is not a remote position. We require the incumbent to report to our local HQ. The candidate will sit at Sierra Instruments (Monterey, CA). OUR BUSINESS: Sierra Instruments has been delivering market-leading gas flow measurement products for more than 45 years. As a part of TASi Gas Flow, Sierra Instruments designs and manufactures high-performance thermal mass flow controllers for nearly every gas, liquid, or steam application. We provide critical instrumentation for the gas flow control systems for all industries where accurate gas flow measurement is mission critical. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Business Development Manager - North America is responsible for meeting sales and profitability goals for Sierra Instruments Scientific Product Line. The Business Development Manager- NA manages the North American territories through properly selecting, training, supporting and servicing direct accounts, manufacturers' representatives and distributors in the region. The Business Development Manager - NA will manage sales agreements, ongoing rep performance metrics and scorecard reports for direct accounts and regional sales channels. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manages business development strategies for the North American region with a goal of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability objectives. Maximize sales volume, profitability, and market penetration of the business units' markets through management, administration, and performance of sales activities. Ensures customer satisfaction and directs resources as required to remedy any identified customer concerns. Develop regional selling strategies; plan and execute region-specific sales objectives to grow sales which outpace the markets annual growth rate. Identify and lead opportunities for business improvement. Maintain updated sales opportunities and provide frequent sales forecasts upon request, as needed. Travels with regional sales channel partners for skills assessment, mentoring, and training; and to remain current on customer issues. Manages the Sales Channel network to ensure both Sales Representatives and Distributors, are properly trained and supported to maximize the opportunity for business growth. Makes recommendations for Sales Channel network transitions as the need arises. Identifies key OEM targets, formulates a go-to-market plan which is either direct or involves distribution as appropriate, executes on that go-to-market plan to establish relationships, initiate sales projects and generate sales. Establish a network of strong and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including OEMs, Distribution Channel Partners, and other market participants Supports regional trade shows, webinars and factory training events as required. Provides direct support for high profile projects and technical service issues as required. Maintains up-to-date reporting of sales activities along with analysis and reports on large long-term projects. Provides feedback to management regarding industry trends and customers' requirements. Conducts training sessions; both internal and external. Provides market intelligence in the form of trip reports and/or presentations. Stays current on competitors' offerings and contributes to competitive analysis by product. Provides meaningful input on the overall company sales strategy, product development and marketing. Perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by the Director of Global Sales POSITION REQUIREMENTS Travel requirements vary by region and time of year; 40%-50% overnight travel and occasional overseas travel is expected to support sales efforts, trade shows and management meetings. Ability to work independently. Authorized to work in the United States. Candidates must be fluent, both written and verbal, in English. Additional language skills are a strategic advantage.
