A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR As a Summer Camp Counselor, you are responsible for teaching the provided curriculum and ensuring that the children at our summer camp remain safe while in your care. You greet each child and their parents as they arrive as well as begin a daily report for each individual child. While taking attendance, you check all the belongings of each child to ensure they are labeled with the child's first and last name. You also keep all infant information sheets up to date in order to discuss their progress or any concerns you may have with their parents. In addition, you follow the daily schedule to keep track of meal and snack time as well as outside playtime. You stay knowledgeable about playground safety and are attentive to the needs of the infants and toddlers under your supervision. Working with each child individually, you help them accomplish developmental milestones as well as observe, record, and report their progress. By being creative, you develop unique lesson plans and decorate your classroom in a way that encourages a fun learning environment. At the end of the day, you ensure that each child's personal items are ready as well as hand off Sunshine reports and daily reports to parents. You make sure that each child leaves with their authorized person and that any unusual behavior is brought to the attention of the correct administrative worker. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR High school diploma or equivalent At least 18 years old Reliable transportation Meet the minimum requirements set by the state childcare regulatory agency for the position of Infant/Toddler care provider Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job, including the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you able to use good judgment to make decisions? Do you consider yourself reliable and responsible? Can you effectively prioritize tasks while demonstrating good time management?
