Who We Are The Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council (GSSGC) is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization, chartered by the Girl Scouts of the USA. GSSGC is located in Southern California, serving girls ages 5-17, and their families, in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The organization's mission is to build girls of courage confidence and character. GSSGC strengthens education, health, financial, employment, and leadership abilities to improve overall conditions of girls and young women in the Inland Empire. GSSGC serves a diverse population of over 7,000 girls, 3,000 adult volunteers, with 67 full-time and part-time staff. Our vision, as always, is to unlock female potential by providing high-quality, relevant programming for girls. GSSGC is headquartered in Redlands, California. The organization also has 4 region offices, each with a retail location, 3 camp properties, and 3 scout houses. The organization's FY2023 budget is $5.9 million. The Position The Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio is currently seeking to fill its open position for the Chief Operations Officer. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) is charged with managing operations-related activities and day-to-day responsibilities of co-developing and administering the GSSGC's Strategic Plan. The COO is accountable for ensuring achievement of GSSGC's overall Strategic Plan and responsible for the comprehensive design, development, and implementation of action plans to extend and deliver the Girl Scout membership and program throughout the organization's jurisdiction. Promotes Girl Scout visibility and strengthens the Girl Scout image in the community. Central to the COO's responsibilities is the active engagement of volunteers who collectively deliver the Girl Scout program. Volunteer support and commitment to serving their needs is essential to the organization's success. The ideal candidate would need to previously demonstrate their ability to create and foster a customer service culture throughout the organization. Required Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to foster cross-functional collaboration, inclusion, and integration for organization-wide success. Proven record of managing others through strategic execution and goal achievement. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including public speaking skills required. An inclusive leadership style, outstanding management skills. Strong planning, organization, and financial skills. Ability to provide seamless integration and coordination of effort among departments, programs, and services. Leadership experience in not-for-profit or membership organization, project management, strategic and tactical planning, and budgeting. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organization, negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Experience in working in a diverse team setting environment. Education & Experience Candidates for the position of COO are expected to have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible field and management experience in leadership, volunteer, and membership engagement experience. A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training is required; advanced degree preferred. Jurisdiction The communities served by the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties varies on a wide spectrum of unique characteristics. Families in the San Gorgonio Council come from different socio-economic levels, community structures, cultures, ethnicities, languages, access to financial and educational resources, access to adequate food and housing, traditional and non-traditional family structures, and more. GSSGC helps provide girls with an equitable start, which leads to better long-term economic and social outcomes. Girls acquire the tools and community support necessary to move forward with resilience, as they amplify their ability to achieve rewarding careers. Compensation & Benefits The compensation range for the position of COO is $120,000-$165,000, depending on experience. The Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, LT disability, 401k (with possible company match.) In addition to the compensation and benefits listed above. The organization has an alternative 4-day work week, generous time-off, and paid holidays.
