Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team at our Canton campus.As a Senior Accountant, you will primarily handle general accounting while ensuring compliance with agency regulations and laws. You will also be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities including month-end close activities, revenue recognition, expense reporting, and reconciliation of related accounts. This salaried position includes a competitive benefits package with: 4 weeks of paid time off per calendar year Paid holidays Medical, dental, & vision benefits at a fraction of the premium cost Retirement planning with company match Employer-paid Group Term Life and Disability Insurance Employee Assistance Program Essential Functions: Ensures organization and funding agency policies and procedures are being followed and also interacts with internal and external entities Responsible for financial grant reporting and analysis grant budget development as well as grant forecasting including reviewing accounts and invoicing Process and/or review Mission Services and other billings monthly and track them according to billing reconciliation, prepare and mail monthly statements, as needed Compile, prepare, and maintain all accounting transactions, profit/loss statements, and balance sheet statements for subsidiary COMPASS Maintain Fixed Assets system including asset entry, disposals, and periodic audits and record depreciation entry in the general ledger at month end via upload Plays a key role in the monthly opening and closing of the agency books, including recording, reconciling, and analyzing all;payroll-related entries, restricted fund activity, eCommerce activity, and balance sheet accounts Prepare bank reconciliations for all agency bank accounts as well as monthly journal entries to record bank fees Review accounts receivable aging reports monthly and work with the Mission department & Salvage department and their customers to resolve payment issues Assist in working with qualified independent auditors to have an annual audit conducted on the financial activities of the agency Assist in working with qualified independent auditors to have an annual audit of our 403b retirement plan Responsible for all Census reports, state registrations, state surveys, etc. (compliance reporting) Works very closely with Mission Services (billings, collections, grants), Salvage (billing and collections), Marketing (donations, grants, Donor Perfect, Building Partner billing and collections), and Building Partners Backup to Director of Finance & Accounting for monthly & annual reporting requirements to Board, Internal and GII Perform all accounting for Salvage, Salvage for Good transactions including recording cash receipts, billing, statements, website updating, tax + fee calculations, maintaining tax tables, and communicating with customers &Salvage team Consistently ensuring we are improving our processes and procedures Other duties as assigned Specific Experience/Skills and Abilities: Five years experience in accounting or finance Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office products Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Accuracy with the ability to see details and spot errors when working with numbers Outstanding demonstrated interpersonal skills (both written and oral) Detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to get along with others and work as a member of a team Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferably in accounting, finance, or a related field Will consider a combination of education and extensive experience in accounting or business Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance for travel to cover our retail locations Travel is required within city limits Goodwill is an equal opportunity employer.
