With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us , Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SPGP) Peer Support Specialist position and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team! The SPGP Peer Support Specialist will be a part of the team under the SSG Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY: Be a role model for Veterans, their families, networks and staff and demonstrate that recovery is possible. Provide education and resources to Veterans in any phase of recovery. Assist the Veteran in identifying goals, strengths and weaknesses and interests regarding their recovery Assist and coach the recovering Veteran in developing their recovery plan and seeing it through Ensure the goals of the grant are met according to the SPGP guidelines Participate in community events, such as education and training workshops, and promote the services of Veterans Inc in the community Assist the Veterans in obtaining other services they may need for successful recovery Support the team with other projects as needed. WHAT YOU MUST HAVE: Current certification in peer support Associates degree in psychology or social work Minimum of two (2) years experience working in a non-profit environment Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with veterans preferred but not required; sensitivity to veterans-related needs and issues Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
