ACA/Internal Audits Director Salary:$74,572.00 Essential Job Functions: Assists the County Auditor in overseeing the internal audits of the Cameron County Auditor's Office. Performs risk assessments, develops audit programs, conducts audit procedures, and proposes recommendations and audit findings memorandums to improve county operations. Conducts follow up audits. Identifies risk and related controls, including potential fraud risks, during planning and fieldwork of internal audits. Coordinates compliance testing of federal and state laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements. Leads performance audits of county departments. Reviews the internal audit team's work papers, reports and deadlines. Works independently with limited guidance. Maintains independence to ensure validity and integrity in internal audit work. The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Additional Functions Performs other related duties as required. Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Accounting (or related field) AND five (5) years of experience in commercial/governmental auditing, accounting or relevant field. Preferred : Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE); supplemented by supervisory experience. Required Application Materials Resume Letter of Interest 3 professional references ADA Compliance Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record. Selected applicant must complete a criminal history/background check clearance. RESPONSIBILITY: Job has a critical impact on the County Auditor's Department operations and public image. Primary responsibility is to the County Auditor. Job responsibilities include constant handling of confidential information/documents relative to the county. This is not a Civil Service covered position.
