Now Offering Student Loan Repayment up to $10,800 Position Overview: Supervise, manage, grow and develop community exercise classes and programs, as assigned, to address chronic medical conditions through supervised and guided exercises. Essential Functions : Instruct and manage clients who range from healthy to having multiple known chronic health conditions with a goal of improving clients overall health. Design individualized exercise prescriptions based on client's conditions, preferences, goals, and limitations. Demonstrate proper usage of exercise equipment and correct form on exercises. Display and embody interpersonal skills to develop relationships conducive to establishing rapport, and maintaining a comfortable, welcoming, and effective environment for all clients. Display critical thinking skills and be able to identify adverse reactions to exercise and correctly respond to emergencies. Responsible for various tasks, such as daily opening/closing tasks, setting up for classes, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and gym, ordering materials, providing marketing materials, and performing various other duties necessary for conducting successful community class programs. Assist with Physical/Occupational Therapy and Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation as needed. Seek grants for the various programs while being able to provide information, statistics and reports necessary for securing grant funding. Works with Rehab Leadership and Marketing Director to achieve department and program goals, increase market share, and seek expansion opportunities to enhance revenue. Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or a related discipline. BLS (CPR and AED training) required. At least one ACSM, ACE, NSCA or similar organization's certification required, and multiple certifications preferred. Experience working with special populations, individuals with known chronic health conditions, and apparently healthy individuals. Knows desirable and undesirable effects of exercise. Knowledge and ability to monitor vital signs. Ability to perform various assessments. Knowledgeable regarding medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medications, contraindications to exercise, healthy lifestyle choices, behavior change, personal training, health coaching, and current trends and knowledge of exercise science and health & wellness topics. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner. Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients. The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
