Overview Summary Provides pre-sales technical engineering support to Account Executives and clients as integral part of sales process. Focuses on architecting and designing technical solutions for mid-size and enterprise accounts. Works closely with clients to determine how Logicalis solutions can best serve their needs and requirements including both on-premise and Logicalis Enterprise Cloud solutions, Managed Services, and Professional Services. Conducts in-depth assessments and functions as subject matter expert to design complex client solutions focused on IBM i operating system.Provides and/or directs comprehensive professional services delivery as related to infrastructure consulting, design, implementation, configuration and knowledge transfer to Logicalis clients (for select customers when appropriate). Designs, analyzes and implements variety of infrastructure and software with focus on IBM Power Systems and the IBM i Operating System. Acts as technical lead and provides subject matter expertise and implementation guidance to clients.Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Engages in opportunities as subject matter expert for IBM i solutions to design and scope complex solutions and components of Logicalis services driving sales process with focus on solution design phase.* Conducts in-depth assessments, studies, and/or surveys to obtain data; analyzes data to advise and recommend multi-faceted solutions. Develops knowledge of client's environment to facilitate integration recommendations.* Participates in client pre-sales calls; assists Account Executives to develop client proposals.* Qualifies, from technical perspective, new business opportunities or requirements within existing and prospective clients to ensure alignment with target markets, portfolio, and delivery and lifecycle services capabilities.* Prepares Statements of Work (SOWs) for Logicalis services for complex solutions and assists with development and refinement of IBM i related Work Breakdown Structures. Follows and enhances Logicalis standards for scoping, documentation, and implementations.* Broadens engagements with enterprise clients by promoting, defining, and positioning Logicalis services from entire portfolio as appropriate to client requirements.* Works with Sales and Project Management to define roadmaps and milestones for Project and Delivery teams.* Provides technical direction to Sales Engineers and Solution Architects required to resolve complex issues which ensure on-time delivery of client solutions.* Provides consulting to Sales Engineers, Solution Architects and Service Delivery team members to ensure successful implementation of solutions.* Communicates complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences in proposals and in-person presentations. Provides consulting advice to client senior leadership, especially IT leadership.* Provides product and/or solution training for Logicalis Sales teams and clients. Mentors Logicalis team members.* Works on several different complex client projects concurrently.* Keeps abreast of latest solutions and services Logicalis offers. * Establishes deep relationships with clients by demonstrating excellent listening skills. Builds credibility and trust by delivering what has been promised within established timeframes.* For select client engagements, performs implementations of overall solutions for clients, including development of solution designs, implementation plans and documentation.o Leads project teams, when applicable, to deliver successful implementations.o Performs expert integration and customized consulting services.o Satisfies client technology services and solution requirements using best practices to Design, Plan, Implement, Validate and Test, Document, Provide Knowledge Transfer, Troubleshoot, and Support.o Works with Resource Management Office and Project Management Office in scheduling and managing engagements.o Maintains focus on client satisfaction and expectation management.* Demonstrates outstanding communication and documentation skills. * Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Logicalis through performing behaviors consistent with the organization's values.* Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Logicalis in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.* Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education/Experience/Technical Requirements/Certifications Education* Bachelor's Degree in IT, Business or related field.Experience / Technical Requirements* 5 years of experience with implementation of IBM Power Systems servers, IBM i Operating System, Virtual I/O Servers, and External Storage; including design validation, migrations, and support. Proficient in the following:o IBM Power Systems Servers including experience with the design, configuration, and installation of server, storage, network, and fiber connectivity.o IBM i Operating System experience including design, configuration, license transfers, server administration and operations, current V7R3 back to V5R4.o IBM i Operating System, PTF, CUME upgrade experience.o Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) design, configuration, installation, and support.o IBM Storwize V5000, V7000 design, configuration experience for IBM i external storage. Installation experience as needed.o BRMS administration and operations including experience with Skip the Release Migration for operating system upgrades and server migrationso IBM Physical Tape Library design, configuration, installation, and supporto High Availability and replication solution experience - Quick-EDD preferred. Experience with PowerHA, MIMIX, iTera as secondary solutions.* Consulting experience focused on best practices for IBM Power Systems, IBM i Operating System, BRMS Backup and Retention strategies for data protection, Healthchecks, Upgrade and Migration strategies.* Experience in one or more of the following:o Virtual Tape Library - Dell EMC Data Domain o IBM i Alerting - HelpSystems Robot Console, Network, and Alert; ABSMessage and others.o High Availability and replication solution experience - Quick-EDD; PowerHA, MIMIX, iTera as secondary solutions.o IBM Full System Flashcopy (FSFC); Storwize and BRMS.o Cross platform integration - IBM i LPARs with non-IBM i environments.o IBM i Security.* Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applicationsMay consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.Certifications One or more of following: * IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM i V1* IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM i V2* IBM Certified Technical Sales Specialist - Power Systems* IBM Certified Sales Specialist - Power Systems with POWER8 V2* Coursework related to IBM i System Administration: Security, Logical Partitioning & Virtualization, IBM i Storage Management, System Administration Other Skills and Abilities * Ability to demonstrate outstanding written and verbal skills and to confidently/professionally interact with external clients and internal teams. * Outstanding time and prioritization management; ability to manage complex projects; multitasks to accommodate requests from multiple clients and Logicalis Account Executives. * Outstanding problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills. * Possesses combination of advanced technical aptitude and consultative capabilities with sales and business focus. * Ability to interact effectively with senior business leaders and C-level executives. * Ability to communicate and lead client discussions and meetings at technical level. * Strong knowledge of competitive products with ability to position strengths and weaknesses in discussions with client.* Ability to understand requirements clients and translate to appropriate designs.* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear and easy-to-follow manner.* Ability to consult with client in-depth to ascertain and define need or requirements for scope of work required to obtain solution.* Maintains excellent client relationships and high client satisfaction ratings.* Ability to travel nationally to meet with clients and to deliver Professional Services engagements.* Participates proactively in own career development.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
