Ecologist Grade II in the Geoscience Regulation Office Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications has responsibility for policy and programmes across a number of areas of national strategic importance, encompassing telecommunications including the National Cyber Security Centre and cyber security policy; energy; climate action; waste management and resource efficiency; environmental policy and air quality; postal; and natural resources. Under the mandate of the Department, the Geoscience Regulation Office (GSRO) is responsible for licensing, monitoring and compliance assurance for the petroleum, minerals, mining and geothermal sectors, both on and offshore Ireland. The GSRO is also tasked with ensuring that certain activities such as mineral exploration are conducted with due regard to their impact on the environment. The GSRO is now seeking an Ecologist Grade II to join its team. Reporting to a Principal Geologist, the successful candidate will be required to provide a range of ecological and environmental services for the GSRO with particular focus on the completion of environmental screening backssments and determinations of proposed mineral exploration activities (e. g. drilling, trenching, seismic surveying, etc. ), as well as the monitoring of such activities.
