Dawg is a handsome 2-year old male Hound mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 9, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Tick Ridge Road in the Vincent Ohio area. Dawg was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. Dawg has a sleek black-and-brown/brindle short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. This young man has a sweet, rather shy, disposition and was a pushover for quiet conversations and gentle petting when we had him outdoors for his photo session on June 13th. Our kennel techs noted that Dawg is a 'very good boy' who appears to be good with cats. Dawg weighs 32.3 lbs and is a little on the thin side. He doesn't seem to have been accustomed to walking on a leash but he actually did pretty well with a little encouragement. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Dawg will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Since Dawg was not reclaimed, he was neutered on June 21, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. UPDATE: Dawg went home with a fabulous foster mother on July 14, 2023, and she sent this glowing report about him in early October 2023: "His shelter name was/is Dawg, but I've called him Finn. He is about 2.5 yrs old, very good with cats and LOVES other dogs. He would be happiest in a multiple dog home. Finn is extremely sensitive, he is afraid of loud noises and anything out of his ordinary routine, really... He was very afraid of the cats when he first came to stay with me, now he has really come around to them and doesn't mind them at all. Finn is crate trained and house trained. He first showed some food aggression, but he rarely does that now either. Finn loves to be outdoors and go on hikes, and he is getting very good at walking on a lead. Finn is looking for his forever home ...
