Brodie Retriever (Unknown Type) Senior Male

Brodie is a gorgeous retriever/terrier mix who likes hiking and doesn't mind riding in the car. He seems to like people more than dogs and really enjoys treats! This big boy gets overlooked a lot and has been here since July waiting for the right people to see what a great member of the family he would make. Brodie took a short vacation with a volunteer! Here's what she has to say about their time together: "Brodie is a great houseguest. We all really enjoyed having him. CAR: He easily jumps in & out of the car and sits or lays down quietly. WALKING: He is excited and pulls slightly for the first few mins but quickly settles into a nice loose leash walk. On our walks, he stopped and watched squirrels & wild rabbits but did not lunge or bark at them. HOUSE: He is fully house-trained. He went in the crate at night on his own to sleep all night (I did not even close the door). When we were in the kitchen or sitting down to eat, he would be very interested & sniffing for a few minutes but then he figured out on his own that it was not his turn yet so he laid down on his bed to wait. He did not jump onto the furniture until I invited him up. COMMANDS: He didn't care about toys but loved mental exercise games. He is very smart and knows sit, down, up, shake, high-five, and off. A couple of times when going thru his commands, I must have given him some sort of accidental cue because he bounced straight up and down on all fours like on a spring then back into a sit. PERSONALITY: Overall Brodie is a quiet, easy going, loving, very smart, well mannered guy who enjoys walks and mental exercise, chilling out on the porch, and long afternoon naps. He also has silky soft fur that is a joy to pet." *As with any animal, observed behavior doesn't guarantee future behavior.*
