Slate was dumped at a local Cumberland Farms convenience/gas store and became the mascot in the evening getting lots of food and pets. But it was a very dangerous intersection; so he was taken into foster care. He had x-rays done due to a slight limp he had; unfortunately this sweet cat had been shot and it completely destroyed his one shoulder bone. However, it's completely healed and he gets around just fine with a slight limp. There is no fix, unless someone has about $10,000 to take to an animal orthopedic. He needs a safe, quiet home where he cannot be injured again. He is FIV+ but would do fine in a home with 1 or 2 cats; not sure about dogs. FIV cannot spread unless the cat with FIV gives another cat a very deep puncture wound. Recent studies by a group of vets that write the books in your vet offices just finalized a report after a 10-year study of shelters and FIV was never transmitted from a positive cat to a negative cat. So please don't let that scare you from adopting this awesome cat who was treated horribly in the past. For adoption info, please contact XXXX@aol.com.
